The Basic Energy Skills

These are a series of audio recordings. Each one teaches you about one of the basic energy skills and guides you through the process of personally practicing it.

Through regular practice, you will develop a felt-sense experience of each skill. Eventually, it will become second nature to you, and you will do it automatically, without needing to consciously pay attention to it. You will have embodied it, just as you have already embodied walking and balance.

Core

This is the skill of holding your attention on and feeling the center of your own body. It is what gives you a felt sense of self. It is required to reference yourself and perceive what you actually feel and want. It is the deepest and most real proof that you actually exist. To acquire this skill, you need to develop a felt sense of the core of your physical body.

The core of your body is a column that runs vertically through the center of your torso, like the trunk of a tree. Your core is the part of your body where you are the most you. When you want to feel your self, this is the place to look. When you want to know how you feel, this is the place to sense into. If you want to build a stronger felt sense of self, putting your attention on your core is the place to start.  If you want to develop self-confidence, this is the way to do it.

Grounding

This is the skill of energetically connecting yourself to the earth, of having a relationship with what supports you, both physically and energetically. It is what gives you a felt sense of safety, support, and belonging in the physical world. Without it, you feel like you have no firm ground under your feet and no place to stand. You may feel unstable, both physically and emotionally. Developing a felt sense of ground creates a feeling of safety and support under you.

Edge

This is the skill of creating and holding an energetic boundary around your personal space, also known as your bubble. Just as each cell in your body has a cell membrane that regulates what enters and leaves the cell, each of us needs to have an energetic membrane around our personal space that regulates what enters and leaves our space. Filling Your Space

This is the skill of filling your personal space, also known as your bubble, with your own life energy.  Many people struggle through life within a bubble that is so full of other people’s energy, thoughts, and feelings that they cannot find themselves.  Filling your space with your own life energy will restore your clarity about who you are and what you feel, as well as boost your self-confidence.  Originally known as the Doubt Shout, this practice is a simple, easy way to clear self-doubt out of your system.

Tying Your Fibers

This is the skill of retrieving your own attention from all the places you have put it in the past and then absentmindedly left some of it.  Many people have left so much of their attention in so many forgotten places that they have little left for attending to the present moment, the here and now.  Learning this practice will give you a simple, easy way to retrieve your attention and strengthen your ability to focus on the present moment.

Learning to corral your attention this way will also help you stop unconsciously invading other people’s bodies and space by sending your attention into them and poking around in there to see what you can discover.  If others have declared you to be invasive or “creepy”, doing this practice will likely diminish that problem.

Soft Eyes, Soft Belly, Soft Heart & Wiggle Your Butt

These two practices will help you shift your attention out of your head and into your heart and belly centers.  For anyone who spends too much time in their head, these are great skills to have.  If you do the Rigid pattern, developing either of these two skills will help you shift out of pattern quickly and easily.
